This latest version of the PMP® exam is based on information contained in the new PMBOK® Guide—4th Edition, which was released by PMI® on December 31st, 2008.  With the PMBOK® Guide's updated content, a focus was placed on removing redundant information and to adding clarifying statements where needed. Significant enhancements were made to improve readability and terminology was updated only to present them consistently in a verb-noun format.

Prerequisites

To obtain the PMP® credential, candidates must first demonstrate eligibility by meeting the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or Associates Degree /global equivalent secondary school diploma; 7,500 hours of project management experience; 60 unique (non-overlapping) months of project management experience within the eight-year period prior to the application; 35 contact hours of project management education.
  • For candidates with a Baccalaureate/global equivalent university degree; 4,500 hours of project management experience; 36 unique (non-overlapping) months of project management experience within the eight-year period prior to the application; 35 contact hours of project management education.

Examination Passing Policy. Should a student complete a TEC Boot Camp Program without having successfully passed all vendor examinations, the student may re-attend that program for a period of one year. A student will only be responsible for hotel accommodation and vendor exam fees.
